.PRESENTATION.

TDCNet is a consortium of terminology documentation centres, whose aim is to create a "virtual terminology library". This project was initiated in 1998 by the European Commission under the MLIS activities.

To further this aim, TDCNet is organising, in the Maison de l'UNESCO, on 13-14-15 March, 2000, the:

.AIMS OF THE CONFERENCE.

The conference is aimed at establishing an infrastructure for terminology in Europe, as recommended at the recent EAFT conference (Paris, May 17, 18, 19, 1999). Particular importance is attached to establishing collaboration between entities working in one sector and multi-domain entities. With this in mind, a special invitation is extended to those active in such specialised sectors as water, railways, the construction industry, telecommunications, etc.

One primary practical result will be to draw up a blueprint for:

a) Interaction between

- terminology documentation centres,

- terminology associations and networks,

- national, regional or international organisations, partially dedicated to terminology,

- any other organisation linked to co-operation in the field of terminology in Europe, partially or totally.

b) Setting up a stable group of terminology documentation centres on the model of the TDCNet prototype,

c) Preparing a world summit for terminology.

Software demonstrations During three days, a permanent exhibition of terminology products and books is planned to take place in the UNESCO Executive Council lounge. The permanent exhibitors will be, among others: Lexiquest, Eurologos, Star, EAFT, DINT, the Rifal and the TDCNet. Target meetings If you want to meet in private - entities or individuals working in different sectors (for a project, a discussion, etc.), - or representatives of an institution you don't personally know, - or if you simply want to organise a work meeting with colleagues, please register at the reception on Monday, March the 13th. A meeting place will be put at your disposal. Market of ideas If you have an idea to share, a project to develop or if you just want to exchange points of view with the participants… Please register at the reception on Monday, March the 13th.
